St Louis Marie de Montfort Parish of the Archdiocese of Blantyre (the “Parish”) invites applications from suitably qualified Individuals to fil the position below:

Parish Finance and Administration Assistant

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill the above-mentioned position.
We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong organization skills with a problem-solving
attitude, good communication, interpersonal, analytical and conceptual skills. Reporting to the
Parish Treasurer, the successful candidate will be expected to manage the parish office and
supervise staff in the Parish and be committed to work at odd hours.

Qualification and experience:

Candidates should have the following:

  1. Diploma in Accounting from a recognised institution
  2. Strong MSCE with minimum of credit in English and Mathematics
  3. Minimum experience of three years in accounting
  4. A combined experience in accounting and administration and a good knowledge of MS office applications (excel, word etc) will have an added advantage

Location: Blantyre St Louis de Montfort Parish

Key responsibilities for the above-mentioned position include:

1. Preparing budgets
a. Coordinate with church Treasurers to produce Parish budgets
b. Manage and monitor effective budgetary controls

2. Accounting
a. Preparation of receipts and payments to suppliers in line with budget
b. Managing Parish stationery and value documents
c. Maintain on effective Parish fling system
d. Manage all banking requirements
e. Preparation of cashbooks and bank reconciliations

3. Reporting
a. Preparation of monthly and annual accounts and reports

4. Administration
a. Supervision of Parish staff
b. Preparation of monthly payroll and remittance of PAYE and pension contributions
c. Maintaining employee records, duty roaster of employees, managing leave days for employees, maintaining pension records of employees.
d. Monitoring maintenance of Parish property at the mission and in all outstations in liaison
with church councils

5. Other duties
a. Any other finance related duties as required from time to time.
