The Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) is a fourth Public Universityestablished by the Government of Malawi in December, 2012. The University is situatedin Thyolo District, about 27 km East of Blantyre City. It has four Schools, namely the
Malawi Institute of Technology (MIT); Ndata School of Climate and Earth Sciences(NSCES); Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS); and Bingu School of Culture and Heritage
(BISCH). MUST offers various programmes through these schools.
An excitingopportunity has arisen at the University for suitably qualified candidates to enroll andstudy under this prestigious institution of higher learning through Open, Distance andE-Learning (ODeL).
DIPLOMA IN AFRICA MUSICOLOGY
Admission requirements for Diploma in Africa Musicology
The programme shall have two entry points:
NORMAL ENTRY
A candidate with six credits in MSCE and IGCSE (‘O’ level) or equivalent including English, and acombination of any two of the following subjects: Social Studies, Life Skills, Bible Knowledge,History, Performing Art, and Geography shall join at year one.
MATURE ENTRY
A candidate with MSCE, IGCSE (‘O’ level) or equivalent, industrial experience and a ABRSM
qualification from a recognized institution, shall join the Programme at the beginning of year 1. Audition applies.
A candidate shall have:
MSCE/IGCSE with at least 4 credits including English and any other social science subjects;
and
At least 2 years relevant on job experience
TUITION FEES
Diploma programme
K300,000 per academic year, payable in two semesters
MODE OF DELIVERY
Classes will be delivered online with limited face to face classes once per semester.
Students will be expected to bear their own accommodation and living expenses during
face-to-face sessions.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
A completed undergraduate application form which can either be collected in person
from MUST Registry Office or through email upon a written request

Authenticated copies of academic certificates or notification of results.

ONLINE SHORT COURSES
In addition to the online Degree programs, MUST is also offering online short courses as
follows:
1.Business Management and Entrepreneurship
The aim of this course is to equip trainers with the basic concepts ofentrepreneurship and knowledge in business planning, essential to the success of theentrepreneur. Modules offered include the following: Introduction to Business &Entrepreneurship, The Business, Environment Analysis, The Marketing Plan, HumanResources & Organization, Financial Planning and Business Plan Development &
Pitching.
Duration: 12 Weeks (Fully online)
Tuition: K200,000
2.Value Addition of Agro-products
This short course offers various topics related to agro-processing with the aim ofvalue addition such as Processing of food grains, fruits and vegetables, DairyProcessing, Animal Products, Drying and Dehydration, Milling Technology, StorageEngineering, and Packaging Technologies. These topics are fused with food safety,entrepreneurship and innovation content.
Duration: 6 weeks (fully online)
Tuition: K150,000

  1. 3D MODELLING DESIGNS USING 3DS MAX
    Participants will learn the basics of 3D modelling and texturing along with 3D
    rendering. The course is open for all participants and professionals such as
    advertisers, engineers, architects, gamers, cartoonists, or anyone who wants to learn
    and understand the ins and outs of modelling, animation and photorealism.
    Duration: 8 weeks (6 weeks online and 2 weeks face to face practical sessions)
    Tuition: K200,000
  2. Computer Aided Designing (CAD) with SolidWorks
    This course lays the foundation for the creation of any design. The learner is
    introduced to the application of computers in generating models of components as atool for enhancing the visualization of abstract components. The course aims to equip
    students with computer skills in drawing and design using SolidWorks software.
    Duration: 8 weeks (6 weeks online and 2 weeks face to face practical sessions)
    Tuition: K200,000
    ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR SHORT COURSES
    A Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent. Experience in a relevantfield will be an added advantage.
    Note: no application fee is required for all short courses
    SHEAMA SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
    There are few scholarship spaces available for online short courses only to candidates who
    obtained their MSCE qualifications through Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS) and OpenSecondary Schools (Night Schools). These scholarships target applicants from the rural districtsof Karonga, Kasungu, Salima, Balaka, Mulanje and Chikwawa. Adolescent girls, young womenand persons with disabilities, are particularly encouraged to apply. SHEAMA scholarships willbe made available to a few candidates that will meet the program set criteria.
