National Planning Commission

The National Planning Commission (NPC) was established through an Act of Parliament in 2017as an autonomous public institution mandated to lead in the medium- and long-term national development planning and overseeing implementation of the plans. In order to fulfil its mandate effectively and efficiently, an opportunity has risen to fill-up three positions with qualified persons at its Secretariat in Lilongwe, as part of the institutional capacity building. The following are the required personnel and work-related traits for the position.


Team Assistant (2)
Grade: NP 6
Reporting to: Senior Administration Officer
Purpose of the job: To provide secretariat support services

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Provide general administrative and clerical support to members of the Commission
Provide travel-related support to officers in the Commission,
Manage the Reception area
Taking Minutes and drafting reports of meetings as may be necessary,
Assist in preparations of meetings of the Commission and servicing of meetings
Provide support towards managing office supplies for the Commission,
Providing support with record keeping at the Secretariat,
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Academic Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of Diploma in office management relevant qualifications.
At least two (2) years practical experience.
Competencies and Personal Attributes
• Good written and spoken English;
• Good interpersonal skills and courteous;
• Ability to use various operating office machines and equipment;
• Be computer literate in Microsoft Word and ability to use the Internet.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people of different levels.
• Willingness to work after normal working hours and during weekends.
• Having excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Should be motivated, enthusiastic, innovative and effective team player.
