Training Programmes in Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Degree Tenable at Domasi College of Education for the 2022 Academic Year Through Face-To-Face Mode of Delivery

TRAINING PROGRAMMES IN BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (SECONDARY) DEGREE TENABLE AT DOMASI COLLEGE OF EDUCATION FOR THE 2022 ACADEMIC YEAR THROUGH FACE-TO-FACE MODE OF DELIVERY

  1. Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians for admission into a four-year face-to-face training programme in the 2022 academic year leading, on successful completion, to attainment of a Bachelor of Education Degree in Sciences or Humanities (Languages & Social Sciences).
  2. Entry Requirements
    Applicants must:
    (a) be school leavers who are holders of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or its equivalent obtained between 2018 to 2020;
    (b) have a minimum of six (6) credits including English subject;
    (c) have an aggregate of not more than ten (10) points in the two teaching subjects they are applying for; and
    (d) not more than 35 years of age.
    OR
    (a) be holders of A-Level certificates with three principal passes obtained between the years 2018 to 2021.
    (c) not more than 35 years of age.
  3. PROGRAMMES
    Details of the programmes are as follows:
    Programme A: Bachelor of Education Science (Secondary)
    Applicants must choose one combination of two subjects which will be their teaching subjects from the following;
    i) Mathematics and Biology
    ii) Mathematics and Chemistry
    iii) Mathematics and Physics
    iv) Mathematics and Computer Science
    v) Mathematics and Agriculture
    vi) Biology and Agriculture
    vii) Mathematics and Human Ecology (Home Economics)
    viii) Human Ecology (Home Economics) and Agriculture
    ix) Human Ecology (Home Economics) and Biology
    Applicants for combinations (I) (ii) and (iii) must have at least credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Physical Science/Physics/Chemistry and any other two (2) subjects.
    Applicants for combination (iv) must have at least credits in English, Mathematics and Physical Science/Physics and any other two (2) subjects. Those who studied Computer Studies will have an added advantage.
    Applicants for combination (v) must have at least credits in English, Mathematics and Agriculture and any other three (3) subjects two of which should be the following: Biology, Home Economics, Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics.
    Applicants for combination (vi) must have at least credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture and any other two (2) subjects one of which should be the following: Home Economics, Physical Science, Chemistry and Physics.
    Applicants for combinations (vii), (viii) and (ix) must have at least credits in English, Mathematics, Physical Science/Chemistry and any other three (3) subjects two of which should be the following: Biology, Home Economics, Physics and Agriculture.
    OR
    (a) At A-Level, the candidate should have at least a grade C in each of the two teaching subjects they are applying for.
    b) At O-evel, the candidates must have at least a grade C in Mathematics and English.
    Programme B: Bachelor of Education Humanities (Secondary)
    In this programme, applicants must choose a combination of two subjects which will be their teaching subjects from the following;
    i) English and Linguistics and African Languages
    ii) English and French
    iii) History ad Geography
    iv) History and Social Studies
    v) History and Theology and Religious Studies
    vi) Geography and Theology and Religious Studies
    vii) Social Studies and Theology and Religious Studies
    viii) Physical Education and Performing Arts
    ix) Physical Education and Creative Arts
    Applicants for combinations (i) and (ii) must have credits in English and Chichewa and any other four (4) subjects.Those applying for French should have also a credit in French.
    Applicants for combinations (iii) and (iv) must have credits in English, History and Geography and any other three (3) subjects including two of the following; Bible knowledge, Life Skills, Chichewa , social & development studies & French.
    Applicants for options (v), (vi) and (vii) must have credits in English, History and Geography, Social studies and Bible knowledge and any other two (2) Subjects including one of the following Life Skills, Chichewa and French.
    Applicants for options (viii) and (ix) must have credits in English and Biology and any other four (4) subjects including two of the following: Bible Knowledge, Life Skills, Geography, History, Chichewa, Social and Development Studies and French.
    OR
    (a) At A-Level, the candidate should have at least a grade C in each of the two teaching subjects they are applying for.
    (b) At O-level, candidates must have at least a grade C in English or a credit pass in English.
    Due to the rigor of the Physical Education practical, only those who are medically and physically fit should apply for combinations (viii) and (ix). Shortlisted applicants will be required to sign a consent form.
    All shortlisted applicants will be required to sit for Entrance Examinations in three (3) papers: Numerical, Communication and Reasoning skills.
    Candidates who qualify using A-Level certificates are exempted from taking entrance examinations.However, they will be required to present themselves on the day of registration for the examination.
  4. TRAINING CONDITIONS
    i. Successful candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable financial
    contribution in tuition fee of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Malawi
    Kwacha (MK250, 000) per academic year. However, the fee is subject to revision
    from time to time.
    ii. The Ministry of Education and Domasi College of Education will not be
    responsible for any form of allowances to trainees.
  5. METHODS OF APPLICATION
    Applicants should apply for only ONE Programme clearly indicating:
    i. The programme they are applying for;
    ii. Their preferred subject combination;
    iii. Age;
    iv. Sex;
  6. PROCESSING FEE
    All applicants should pay a non-refundable processing fee of ten thousand kwacha (K10,000.00). The processing fee should be deposited directly into the following bank

  7. Applications clearly marked Bachelor of Education Programme (Generic) together
    with a copy of the bank deposit slip should be sent to:

    To reach him not later than 31st January 2022
    NB:
     Former Nalikule College of Education and Domasi College of Education students who were withdrawn on academic or disciplinary grounds must not apply for this training.
     Candidates with visual impairment should apply for Programme B (i),(ii),(iv),(v) & (vii).
     Do not send your original certificates or notification of results, but photocopies.
     Grades from two complete certificates will not be accepted.
     Domasi College of Education is implementing 50-50 policy on recruitment by gender. Therefore, female candidates are encouraged to apply.
     For candidates with A-Level certificates, exemption from entrance examinations does not imply automatic selection.
     Any application that does not meet the requirements will be disqualified.
     Candidates should only apply to one College (either Nalikule College or Domasi College)
